ReplyDeleteIMPORTANT NOTE: Never ever use FB to log into other apps. That gives FB a full history of every app you use and when you use it. It also gives that app access to your social graph.
IMPORTANT NOTE #2: Just because you turn on privacy settings, etc., DOES NOT MEAN that Facebook has to honor them. FACEBOOK CAN IGNORE YOUR PRIVACY SETTINGS ENTIRELY and there are no actual consequences to it.
Point #2 is very important. We’re used to thinking that companies honor the settings and requests that are being made. As time goes on, it’s becoming pretty clear to me that this assumption does not necessarily hold.

I don't take much issue with the recent news. Demographics have been used for decades by marketers and advertisers. Google likely knows you better than any friends and family because you ask questions that are most private. Amazon knows as much or more and anticipates your purchases.

Personally I'm not fond of Zuckerburg. He gives me a "Lance Armstrong" twinge with his inflated ego and denial/deflection tactics until they became undeniable. No doubt he's a smart kid but FB has outgrown his abilities.
Yes, I see the contradiction of using FB for my post, but other, better formats will come along.
